“THIS MAN WILL BE MISSED BY SO MANY OF US. There are countless things that could be said about Bill Hearn, but the thing that impacted me the most was how he got a big heart for worship music and then used his role as head of Capitol Christian Music Group to champion it around the world. I saw his brilliant combination of passion, strategy and vision up close for 20 years, and he was one-of-a-kind.” —matt redman K-LOvE remEmbers bill hearn 1959-2017 CAPITOL CHRISTIAN MUSIC GROUP CHAIRMAN AND CEO BILL HEARN, 58, passed away Dec. 10, 2017, after quietly battling cancer. Tonight, we honor and remember this generous and kind man who shaped Christian music in so many profound ways. “ I REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME I MET HIM. He smiled at me and talked about how he and the label wanted to serve the vision of God on my life. He was a quiet man, but always kind. He was a deep thinker, but always had a smile in his eyes.” —kari jobe “ I TRULY CANNOT PUT INTO WORDS WHAT BILL HEARN MEANT TO ME. He truly is the best friend an artist could have—a man of great vision and integrity. His impact on Christian music as a whole and my music, personally, is immeasurable; and his legacy will live on for generations. —Chris Tomlin ” “ AT MY LOWEST, HE WAS THERE. In the rare magical moments that allowed for celebration, he was there. He was counsel to me more times than I can count… He knew when I needed a call, or a text, or golf. He was magic. Music is easy; following Jesus is hard. He helped me do both.” —crowder “ BILL HAS BEEN A FRIEND, PIONEER AND TRUSTED GUIDE as we have sought to bring songs to the Church around the world. His impact and influence on the journey of Passion is beyond measure. His death is a great loss to all who loved him. Shelley and I will miss you, dear friend.” —louie giglio, founder of Passion Conferences, sixstepsrecords and Passion City Church “BILL WAS SO COMMITTED TO HILLSONG MUSIC, was loved by us all, and will be missed greatly. Heaven’s gain.” —brian houston, author and pastor of Hillsong Church >> 4 << “I HAVE KNOWN BILL SINCE I WAS 21 YEARS OLD WHEN I SIGNED AT CAPITOL RECORDS. HE WAS MY FRIEND… Over the last 10 years, a lot of life happened for me (records, tours, getting engaged, getting married, having babies, all the things…). Bill and Capitol were always some of the –rst to know! I will miss walking in his o˜ce and seeing his smile! I hope to carry on what I learned from him. Thank you, Bill, for believing in me and so many others. Thank you for being bold and taking risks to give us the opportunity to share hope with the world. You will be greatly missed.” —britt nicole

LAST YEAR, WE CELEBRATED FIVE YEARS OF GIVING GOD THE GLORY WITH THE 5TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE KŒLOVE FAN AWARDS. Matthew West and Elisabeth Hasselbeck once again co-hosted the star-studded evening. Danny Gokey kicked off the festivities with a high-energy performance followed by appearances from other fan favorites, including Jeremy Camp, Britt Nicole, Hawk Nelson, Kari Jobe, Jesus Culture and many more. for KING & COUNTRY ended the night holding their record for the most award wins in K-LOVE Fan Awards history after snagging three more trophies in 2017 for Artist of the Year, Group/Duo of the Year and Song of the Year (“Priceless”). For the first time ever, the K-LOVE Fan Awards hit the big screen for a one night only Fathom Event at select movie theaters nationwide. Furthermore, in 2017 K-LOVE partnered with the Military Warriors Support Foundation (MWSF) to aid veterans and their loved ones. When people think of the Grand Ole Opry, they naturally conjure images of the birthplace of country music. After all, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash have all stepped into the infamous circle to perform their songs. While the Grand Ole Opry has continued to help define the genre of country music over the past 90 years, it’s also welcomed numerous Christian artists onto its hallowed stage with open arms. Matthew West, Chris Tomlin, Francesca Battistelli and NEEDTOBREATHE are just a few of the Christian artists who have made their Grand Ole Opry debut through the years. Artists like Steven Curtis Chapman continue to play the Opry on a regular basis. It’s a coveted invitation that artists of any genre don’t take lightly. The first Opry radio show aired on November 28, 1925, and quickly became a popular medium that showcased rising country talent. The show eventually evolved into a live performance format but can still be heard on WSM radio today. Now, each week, the Opry takes place right here in this auditorium. Shows featuring multiple artists and lasting well over two hours take place every Friday and Saturday night (and on select Tuesdays and Wednesdays), but you don’t have to be in Music City to enjoy the live music. You can listen live on opry.com as country legends and current chart-toppers alike perform. The Grand Ole Opry House you’re now sitting in became the first venue built specifically as the permanent home for the Grand Ole Opry. President Richard Nixon was in attendance the night it opened on March 16, 1974. Prior to that, the Grand Ole Opry was held at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium. The Ryman still hosts the Opry during the winter months, spotlighting performances from ace musicians like Ricky Skaggs and Vince Gill to appearances by superstars like Carrie Underwood and Little Big Town. During the historic flood of 2010, the Grand Ole Opry House suffered extensive damage and was temporarily closed for five months of restoration work. Restored to its former glory, today the Grand Ole Opry House serves as a welcome respite for music’s biggest and brightest stars—across country, bluegrass, Americana and Christian music. —venue Spotlight— Grand ole opry house nashville, Tennessee THE OprY BY THE NuMBErS 15.8 million feet of audio, video and lighting cable 6,024 songs performed during Opry shows each year 4,600+ (and counting) consecutive Saturday nights aired on WSM 4,400 seats in the Grand Ole Opry House auditorium 200+ o˜cial Grand Ole Opry members >> 22 << >> 23 << NEEDTOBREATHE’s Opry Debut, April 19, 2014 Ellie Holcomb’s Opry Debut, April 1, 2017 Chris Tomlin’s Opry Debut, December 4, 2015

WHAT CAN PEOPLE EXPECT AT THIS YEAR’S SHOW? Matthew: Circus animals, ¯reworks, lasers, food trucks, face painting and magic tricks are on my short list for this year’s show. Ha! WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT YOUR COŒHOST, MANDISA? Matthew: Mandisa and I have been friends for a long time now. We’ve written a bunch of songs together, and I have so much respect for her. She’s one of the most genuine, authentic people I know, and I am so excited to share the stage with her this year. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MANDISA SONG? Matthew: I love them all! “Stronger,” “Overcomer” … She sings anthems that ¯re people up! My favorite is a song we wrote together called “Not Guilty.” That song was on one of her earlier records, but it still speaks to me. WHERE DO YOU KEEP YOUR KŒLOVE FAN AWARD? Matthew: I keep my award in my music room, right next to my piano. I hire a cleaning crew to come in weekly and polish the award. When the cleaning crew isn’t there, I sit and stare at it night and day. Is that weird? WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE CCM ALBUMS FROM THE LAST YEAR? Matthew: Zach Williams (Chain Breaker), Casting Crowns (The Very Next Thing), Tauren Wells (Hills and Valleys) FIrSTS & FAvOrITES FIRST CHRISTIAN CONCERT YOU EVER ATTENDED: Rich Mullins FAVORITE POST SHOW SNACK: La Croix CURRENT BINGE WORTHY TV OBSESSION: “Fixer Upper” BOOK YOU’RE CURRENTLY READING: You and Me Forever by Francis & Lisa Chan THE ONE THING YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT ON TOUR: My family! WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT HOSTING THIS YEAR’S KŒLOVE FAN AWARDS FOR THE FIRST TIME? Mandisa: I love Christian music, K-LOVE and the fans! What could be better?! WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT YOUR COŒ HOST, MATTHEW WEST? Mandisa: Matty is one of my favorite people ever! I can’t tell you how many memorable moments I’ve had with him; mainly laughing, but we’ve shared a few tear-jerker moments songwriting, too. Knowing he’ll be by my side brings me a level of comfort I wouldn’t have with anyone else. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MATTHEW WEST SONG? Mandisa: “Hello, My Name Is!” WHERE DO YOU KEEP YOUR KŒLOVE FAN AWARDS? Mandisa: On a shelf in my living room. YOU’RE AN AVID CHRISTIAN MUSIC FAN! WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT CHRISTIAN MUSIC? Mandisa: I love that Christian music doesn’t just sound good but brings me closer to the heart of God. IF YOU WIN A KŒLOVE FAN AWARD TONIGHT, HOW WILL YOU CELEBRATE? Mandisa: The same way I would if I don’t win. By thanking God for an amazing night with my brothers and sisters...and maybe a little dancing. WHAT IS THE BEST CCM CONCERT OR LIVE PERFORMANCE YOU’VE SEEN OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST YEAR •EXCLUDING YOUR OWN–? While I was a part of the “Hits Deep Tour,” it wasn’t technically my performance, so I think I’m safe in saying that TobyMac is still my favorite live performer in Christian music! TONIGHT'S HOSTS TONIGHT'S HOSTS MATTHEW WEST WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT HOSTING THE KŒLOVE FAN AWARDS? Matthew: Hosting the awards is one of the highlights of my year. It’s a ton of work, but I enjoy stepping outside my comfort zone as an artist and hosting the night. It’s always a blast to get crazy and come up with new material for monologues and sketches to try and make the people laugh. When I look out and see the artists laughing, too, that’s when I know it’s going to be a good night! WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY FROM A PAST KŒLOVE FAN AWARDS? Matthew: My favorite memory is of a girl named Brooke, who won our hearts at the awards. Brooke battled cancer, but was determined to attend the awards, and was a fan of my music. We created a new award that night for this little girl and awarded her “prettiest girl in the room.” It was just such a sweet moment, seeing the entire crowd rally around this sweet girl.
